So, Samm asks me if I like taking quizzes on Facebook? (Um duh!) So I said sure, and she has me think of 10 things that people might not know about me... and honestly, it's a lot tougher than you think to come up with 10!

Here's what I came up with:

1) I got into radio on a dare from my friends my senior year of high school when I was 18.  A similar thing happened to another friend of mine at the same radio station, KFMC in Fairmont, MN and the rest, they say, is history!   Check out this rookie:

2) What you DO know, is that I'm a movie-fanatic!  What you DON'T know is how obsessed I am with the whole super-hero genre. In fact, I've just about collected every one of them for my home library. It's a toss-up between X-Men and Batman as my favorite franchise. Love'em all though! Here's just a small sample of my collection:

3) When I'm not listening to Today's Best Music on KROC, my favorite kind of music to listen to is classic rock! It goes back to when I was a kid and had ZERO control of the car radio with my dad. He loved all the greats like The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Queen and especially The Doobie Brothers! Hearing all the hits from those bands always takes me back to the good ol' days with the old man driving in his '67 Mustang!

4) Just like Samm, I, too, am DEATHLY afraid of spiders!  Actually, most insects in general freak me out.  My bedroom was in the basement of our house growing up and we always had centipedes and spiders crawling around the walls and floors of my room.  One time I woke up to a centipede crawling across my chest!  NOT. COOL!

5) My first girl crush on TV was Topanga from Boy Meets World!  I never missed an episode... seriously, ABC's TGIF was MUST-SEE TV when you're a 12-year-old boy in love with a blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl like that! Kelly Kapowski from Saved By The Bell was a VERY close second though...

Side note:

6) Not only can you hear me weekdays 2-7 on KROC, but my voice is also used for promos on TV for FOX 47 KXLT Rochester!  Maybe you've heard it before but didn't know it was mine? I love doing it. Here's just one example:

7) I LOVE sports, but I'd much rather listen to a game on the radio than watch it on TV.  I mostly blame Joe Buck on this one. But seriously, growing up I always loved listening to the great Herb Carneal call Twins games on the air. Both he and John Gordon did such a masterful job of filling down-time between plays or pitching changes that you just LOVED the game that much more. Dan Gladden and Cory Provus are just as enjoyable today.  I also LOVE listening to Paul Allen call Vikings games - SO MUCH PASSION!

8) I love sampling new beers and buying the local brew when I'm traveling, but I'll always choose Captain Morgan 10/10 times if you're buying.  Why? Because I just love that first sip of a freshly poured Captain over ice. I prefer it most with either regular Coke or even 7UP. So freakin' delicious!

9) I'm a picky eater.  Yes, I realize I'm 34 years old, but I like what I like and that's the way it is. While I'm MUCH better than I was when I was a kid, these days it's more about the texture of food (like peas, I hate peas!) that turns me off rather than taste, as I'm more open to trying more things nowadays. My wife will eat ANYTHING that isn't mustard, so I'm sort of forced to explore new foods that way.

10) Finally, Garvin Heights in Winona, MN is my happy place.  I remember my first trip up there my freshman year at WSU with my roommate and the new group of friends I'd met at school. Just seeing the view from the top of the bluffs like that overseeing the town and the school's campus gave me such a calming feeling that I'd never felt before, and it just felt like I was at home there. I try to go back as often as my wife let's me, and I'm excited to bring my daughter there someday too :)

I mean, check out this view!  Here's what it looks like in the late summer/fall and winter:
