It's weird, growing up I was in the minority of friends I knew whose parents were still married.  While my folks celebrated 40 years of marriage last month, others I know complained how idiotic their ex is.  Wedded "bliss" isn't easy, but it's more common than it used to be.

The 70's and 80's ushered in the era of "half of marriages fail." That's not accurate anymore, though (so for those who still use that quote to avoid getting hitched, tell 'em to stop being such a pansy and either get married or move on...). 70% of those who got married in the 90's are still together today! The number jumps to 75% for those married in 2000 and after!

So why the change?

One of the biggest things listed is waiting longer to get married.  Other factors are marrying for love instead of money, living together before tying the knot, having kids later in life and both parents earning an income-making money less of a reason for divorce.

So for the majority(at least by the numbers) who got married in 1990 or after, what's made your marriage last?  Any reason that works for the two of you that others might find weird?
