Ever get that feeling that someone's watching you at home?  That's not the feeling of paranoia creeping over you, that's the reality of 33% of your neighbors watching your every move when you get home.

Yale University commissioned a study to find out just how much those around us pay attention to what we're doing at home on a daily basis.  While some would just call it "taking precaution," others might tend to find it a little too creepy.

  • 33% say they actively seek out the source of commotion from their neighbors
  • 40% say they peek through the curtains when they noise next door
  • 30% leave the lights off when checking so you can't see them
  • 10% have been caught trying to check in on you

On a bright note, almost everyone in the survey who admitted they check you out on the regular do so just to make sure you're alright, and that you, yours and their property are all safe(or they're just self-admitted nosey people who can't mind their own biz).

I can't lie, I'm guilty of this A LOT(well, the checking the curtains thing, not the getting caught thing. I'm pretty stealth like that...)  And no, it's not because I live a crappy neighborhood.  I'm happy to say the most that causes conflicts is my neighbor's dogs that just won't ST*U sometimes!!  And no, I'm not a full time radio guy/part time creeper, I just work weird hours and am usually up 'til 4am; hours when spooky noises outside and bumps in the night get your imagination going.  And I'm a giant pansy.

The survey noted that some of the top things your fellow house-dwellers nearest you notice are changes to your house, a new car, times you go to work, when you're having food delivered and even when you argue(so maybe not shout loud enough that they can hear you, honey...?)

Is this believable? Got creepy neighbors you've caught in the act?  Check out the rest of the story here(Express.co.)
