And I'm not talking about making an 'X' with your nail...

Summer in Minnesota. It's oh so beautiful, fun AND itchy. The skeeters are thicker than the humidity this time of year. So what can you do when your repellent doesn't live up to it's expectations, because let's be real...

  1. Toothpaste - I've heard of this for zits (white toothpaste specifically), but have never actually attempted it for a mosquito bite. If you forgot your calamine lotion, and can't make it to the store, give it a try.
  2. Salt and Water - Another good option if you are camping. Mix some salt (table salt will do) and make a paste out of it with water. Put it directly on the bite. According to lifehacker.com, it'll sting for a second, but will totally be worth it in the end.
  3. Aloe - Every Minnesotan should have this in bulk. Not only is it a life saver with sunburns, but it will help with the swelling and pain of a mosquito bite. Keep an aloe plant in the camper, and have the pain reliever at your finger tips.
