We all know that oranges and pineapples are loaded with vitamin C, and spinach is a super food, but there are several things I didn't realize would totally boost your immune system as well. Some you may already be eating on a regular basis, and some you just can't afford NOT to add to your diet.

Eggs
I knew eggs were full of protein, but I never would have guessed that they have other essentials to fighting off illnesses. Eggs are full of iron and vitamin A, which help with immune function.
- 2
Peanut Butter
So, I no longer need to feel bad about eating a whole jar in one sitting? I can just say "I'm fighting the flu!" haha.... Peanut butter is packed with vitamin E and flu-fighting antioxidants - SCORE!

Oysters
The shellfish have a high amount of zinc, which helps boost immune system function and promote healing. Research shows that when consumed at the first sign of the sniffles, zinc can help reduce the length and severity of sickness....Yeah, I think I'll just stick with zinc pills.

Cayenne Pepper
Peppers or anything hot for that matter will help clean out the sinuses. Try adding peppers to your food or simply top it off with Sriracha OR cayenne pepper powder - just have a kleenex handy.

Salmon
Man, I wish I like salmon.... According to Lisa Moskovitz, R.D., founder of the New York Nutrition Group, "salmon is like nature's advil. It provides the body with tons of immune-boosting omega-3s, protein, vitamin E, and calcium." She recommends swapping out tired chicken dishes for baked wild salmon two to three times a week throughout flu season.
