    Big City, Small Town Feel

The city continues to grow, but you still see someone you know no matter where you go in town. I grew up in a very small town (pop. 185), but Rochester is the biggest, small city I've ever lived in. You know what I mean?

Mayo Clinic, hello! The amazing hospital employees make up a HUGE percentage of our population, and the Clinic brings people from all over the world to the city and putting Rochester on the map.

    Excellent School System

I didn't go to school in Rochester, I don't have a kid in the school system (well, my stepson is in elementary school), but I still think Rochester's school system is phenomenal. There isn't a school here that I would categorize as "bad." And led by Superintendent Michael Munoz, we are very lucky.

Great Variety of Bars and Restaurants

People complain that there isn't much to do in Rochester, but we are very fortunate to have so many restaurants and bars. We have great variety, awesome service (thank you Minnesota nice) and affordable food. I'm loving all the rooftop patios!

  • Thursdays on First

Every year, 'Thursdays on First' brings tens of thousands people to downtown Rochester. (So, don't try telling me it's not popular!) The Rochester Downtown Alliance does a stellar job getting people out and about. I love the live music, great food and just being able to enjoy downtown!

    Trails and Parks

There is nothing better than a good bike ride! You could ride for mile after mile on the trails here in Rochester, and from what I've seen they're in good shape, too! Also, our parks are awesome: Soldiers Field, Silver Lake and so many more...
