There's now a smartphone app that ties into community 911 systems and medical dispatch centers that will alert you of medical emergencies near you!

It was the case with Jeff Olson of Spokane, Washington.  He had the app, PulsePointon his phone, when an alert popped up just a couple blocks from his location.  Since Jeff's also a volunteer EMT, he ran to the alert's location to see if he could help.

It's a good thing he did, as the alert was for a one-month old baby who had stopped breathing.  And even though Jeff had never performed CPR on an actual baby, his volunteer training had taught him how to do so.  His efforts kept the baby, Nolan, alive until an ambulance arrived.
