9/11 footage usually makes me feel the same way I did 13yrs ago - angry, sad, and confused but those feelings ultimately lead to a renewed sense of patriotism.  This morning I read an article on huffingtonpost.com which made me feel ashamed and embarrassed for our country.

414 first responders were killed on 9/11. 1400 have died since. 2500 have cancer.  IT TOOK 12 YEARS FOR THEM TO START RECEIVING PAYMENTS FOR HEALTHCARE!  Some are still waiting!!!!  Why?  These people are heroes and should have received the best treatment possible- immediately.  Why do we take these people for granted?

The FealGood Foundation is a non-profit that helps ease the financial burden of medical care and educates the public about the ailments these responders face- Click here to learn more and if you can please make a donation. There’s also an online petition to get Congress to designate a national holiday to honor America’s first responders.  I encourage you to click here and sign it.  It’s time to recognize them for their amazing work.
