Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  A driverless vehicle wowed a crowd in Rochester Thursday.

The EZ10 was on display at the Peace Plaza and gave curious residents a ride on the pedestrian walkway.

The same vehicle was used for the same purpose at Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis during Super Bowl week.

It’s being tested by MnDOT and was brought to Rochester to give the public and local officials a chance to experience the technology firsthand.

This electric-powered model costs about the same as a commuter bus ($200,000 - $300,000) and can accommodate up to 12 passengers. The French manufacturer is planning larger models. This model has a top speed of 25 mph.

Models are currently in use at two sites in Calif and one in Texas under the operation of First Transit.
