A Real, In-Person Groundhog Day Report

It's Groundhog Day again. A day when lots of people throw Groundhog Day parties, which basically means eating too much and watching the famous Bill Murray movie about this "holiday" every year.

My friend Ashley just upped the ante. This year, she and some friends took a road trip to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, and got to see it all in person! Not only was she there for the big moment this morning, but she also got to take part in the "Groundhog Ball" and has been able to check out all the Phil-related stuff around town. Check out some of her pictures!

This morning started out with the national anthem and fireworks (I guess to make sure Phil doesn't oversleep?) and when he came out of his stump and took a look around, he did NOT see his shadow. That means we will have an early spring this year!

Since the tradition started in 1887, is just the 18th time he has called for an early spring. On a day like today with all this snow, we were reminded that it DEFINITELY is winter out there! So, it's nice to think that if Phil is correct, we aren't too far away from Spring!
