Alcohol-Related Traffic Fatalities in Minnesota Declining
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - An annual report released by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety shows the number of impaired-related traffic deaths and drunk driving arrests continued to decline in the state last year.
There were 91 impaired-related traffic deaths, which is a statistic that covers vehicle drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians with blood-alcohol-concentrations tested at or above .08 percent. The 2014 total was down 25 percent when compared to 2010.
State officials also reported there were 25,258 drunk driving arrests in Minnesota last year. That tally is over 700 lower than the previous year’s total and the report notes the arrest total has been declining since 2006 when the state reported over 42,000 drunk driving arrests.
