It's National Potato Chip day. Celebrate by going to town on a bag of your favorite chips. Potato chips were invented in 1853 and quickly became the world's favorite snack food.  Chips are big business -  Forbes published data from Business Wire that said over 9 out of 10 households in America ate chips in the past month.

The market is dominated by 3 brands.  Here are the top-3 potato chip companies in the U.S according to therichest.com:

3) Pringles:  Once you pop, you can't stop, right?

2) Ruffles: Frito-Lay Company purchased the rights to Ruffles in 1958.

1) Lays:  Frito-Lay also owns Lays which come in a variety of flavors. The original/plain flavor is the number one selling chip in America.  See how they're made in the video below.

Don't forget about our local chip company, Old Dutch.  The Old Dutch production plant is located in Roseville, Minnesota.  The company makes awesome potato chips and a ton of money - They report close to a half a billion in sales annually.
