The future of Herberger's is in serious doubt. The store's parent company, Bon-Ton, held a bankruptcy auction on Monday and the only bidders were liquidators according to a report from Reuters. That means the company will most likely go out of business.

Bizjournal.com reported that earlier this month the company announced its plans to close four Minnesota stores. The stores that will definitely close are located in Bloomington, Stillwater, Roseville and Duluth. All locations will close if the company doesn't find a bidder.

No word on the immediate future of the Rochester location, but things don't look good and time is running out.

Bon-Ton, which filed for bankruptcy in February, has several hundred department stores across the country under different names. You're probably most familiar with Younkers and Herberger’s.
