It was very cold across southeast Minnesota Friday morning as overnight temperatures fell below zero.

Rochester’s unofficial low Friday morning was 16 below, one of the coldest readings in the region.

Temperatures will remain well below normal through Saturday, making this one of the coldest Februarys on record for Rochester.

Above average temperatures have been recorded on just three days this month.Through Thursday, the average monthly temperature was 8.6 degrees, more than 11 degrees below normal.

Unofficially, that makes it the 9th coldest February on record.

February 2014 was the 4th coldest on record.
