According to the American Dental Association only 40% of Americans floss on a daily basis. 20 percent never floss.
Those people must have awful teeth, right? Not so fast, the Associated Press just got the Department of Health to admit "The effectiveness of flossing has never been researched, as required."

A ton of research has been conducted on flossing, but none of the studies have proven that flossing helps you get rid of plaque or prevents gum disease. The AP found that the 25 largest studies ever conducted were all unreliable.

Despite the lack of evidence that it works, a dentist from the National Institutes of Health encourages you to keep flossing, "It's low risk, low cost. We know there's a possibility that it works, so we feel comfortable telling people to go ahead and do it."
