Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - There was an explosion at an ethanol plant in Freeborn County early Sunday.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department says the explosion occurred around 3:30 a.m. at the POET plant near Glenville, which is located south of Albert Lea. There were four employees at the plant at the time and two were taken to an Albert Lea hospital for treatment of their injuries.

There is no word yet on the cause of the explosion or extent of damage.  The company says the plant produces 42 million gallons of ethanol per year.
