Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - An Austin man has been sentenced to four years in prison for an illegal and fatal drug sale.

Sentenced Thursday was 24-year-old Ryan Anderson, who pleaded guilty earlier to a 2nd degree manslaughter charge.

The sentencing took place exactly one year after the heroin overdose death of his friend 23-year-old Tyler Burkley of Austin.

Anderson admitted he sold the heroin to Burkley, who was unresponsive when officers were called to his residence Dec. 18.

Anderson had been facing a third degree murder charge but it was dismissed as part of a plea deal. He has also been ordered to pay nearly $6,000 restitution to Burkley’s family.
