Rich Peterson

I began my radio career in North Platte, Nebraska (KAHL) in July 1974. From there it was Burlington, Colorado (KNAB). Clinton, Missouri (KDKD), Omaha, Nebraska (KFAB), then Rochester in 1983 until 1990 when I worked in Rapid City, South Dakota (KKKMK & KKLS) for almost 9 years. In the fall of 1999, I came back and have been at KROC AM ever since! Thank you for listening! I grew up in Richfield, graduated from Richfield High School ('71) and went to the University of Minnesota and then Brown Institute in 1973. My wife Nancy and I have been married since 1979 and we have three great kids, two boys and one girl. Scott, the oldest, is living and working in Hamburg, Germany. Tim and his family live in Byron, while Kaitlyn and her family live in Rochester. Two awesome grandkids (Zoey and Jack) keep us hopping when they visit. I'm a huge Gopher fan and have been since I was old enough to know better in 1959. I had an uncle who played football for the Gophers in 1941. I was recruited to play baseball at the U, but soon realized (by mutual agreement) that maybe radio was my better option... I also, of course, love the Vikings, Twins and any pro team from Minnesota. I am the P.A. announcer for the Rochester Honkers baseball team, occasionally do some announcing for the local high schools (you name the sport, I've called it!), help out at Apollo Liquor (you name the wine, I've sold it!) and do some "medical acting" at the Mayo Clinic (you name the disease or personality disorder, I've had it!) Rochester has so much to offer and it just gets better everyday!

A Team Effort Brings Down a Wanted Man in Rochester

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -- It was a standoff of sorts in Rochester last night involving the Minnesota State Patrol, the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit and the Rochester Fire Department at the 75th Street bridge over the Zumbro River.

Another Winter Snowstorm Strikes U.S. East Coast

Oooooh My Aching Back!

So we made it through the last blizzard of the season (?).  Around ten to twelve inches of wet snow with an icy crust on top.  Fun.

It was probably just another day in paradise for those of you with a massive honker of a snow blower.  For the rest of us with the cheaper, smaller types that had no chance in snow like this, we resorted to shoveling.

We’re stilling feeling it today.

So, out of curiosity I attempted to find the best homemade, stiff/sore muscle remedies.  Some make sense.  Some are...different.

Here are the top 10 home remedies for muscle pain.

According to
#1. Cold Pack
“Applying a cold pack on the affected muscle can help lessen pain and inflammation. The cold will constrict the blood vessels to reduce the flow of blood to the area.”

They say wrapping a handful of ice cubes in a thin towel….15 minutes at a crack for the first 72 hours!  Or use a bag of frozen veggies!  Personally I like mixed veggies.
After 24 hours, go to
#2.  Hot Water Soak
Oooooh yeah, with epsom salts! 20 minutes, three times a day.
Now it gets a bit more interesting and please let me know if this is part of your regimen.
#3. Tart Cherry  (is there another kind)

Eat one and one-half cup of tart cherries after a workout to prevent muscle pain.

You can also drink one cup of tart cherry juice, without adding any sugar, to reduce muscle inflammation and soreness.
Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder in one cup of milk. Heat it over a low flame. Drink this twice a day, sipping it slowly, for speedy internal healing.
