One of the most popular races in the entire Midwest is this weekend and the group known as Black Lives Matter plans to disrupt the finish.

The Twin Cities Marathon starts Sunday morning at 8 a.m. near the new Vikings stadium and finishes near the State Capitol. The finish line could be a mess.

The group Black Lives Matter says it's planning a protest on Sunday. They say they plan to to block the finish line to prevent runners from completing their marathon.

Organizer Rashad Turner told WCCO protesters will “become the finish line.”

The group organizing the run, Twin Cities in Motion, says they are working with city officials to make sure everyone involved is safe.

I've finished two full and dozens of half-marathons and I can tell you there is no greater feeling of accomplishment. It would be a shame for the runners involved that have invested months of their life training to not be able to finish. I really hope that they find a way to keep the protesters off of the course.
