Remember joy in a young girl scout's eyes when she gets the money from the delicious cookies you purchased from her?  Remember that same joy, followed shortly by sadness, when you plowed through an entire box before said scout has even left your neighborhood?  Now you can get that feeling all the time(but as always, there's a catch...)

So why did this most obvious of ideas take so long to finally become reality?  Well, the Girl Scouts released a statement saying they resisted selling online because face-to-face sales were a good learning experience for girls.  According to GirlScouts.org, "...in addition to the 5 Skills the girls learn while they earn money from cookie sales—goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics—they’ll now be mastering eCommerce and online marketing."  But let's be honest, there's a lot of money to be made from cookie fiends like me who'd buy them all year 'round!

Don't worry, to the best of our knowledge, our local Girl Scouts will be handling and distributing cookies and proceeds will go to the areas from which they were purchased.  And here's the catch: Girl Scouts troops are not required to participate in online distribution, and at this point, most local troops are not participating.  But for those that are, the digital cookie platform will be open starting December 12th, so it would be wise to bookmark GirlScouts.org now!
