It's been the most brutal winter that I can recall in my 25 years of life.  It's so cold, way too much snow, windy, nasty, never ending!!!  After this winter, an investment in a snow blower is a MUST.  Every year, there's a bunch of predictions out about what we can expect over the winter months.  This year, the only prediction that came close was the Farmer's Almanac!  In fact, they were spot on.  Government Climate scientists, not so much!

The NOAA's Prediction Center predicted temps would be "above normal from November through January" for most of the US.  Has Minnesota even once been above normal this year??  Check this out temperatures have been well below normal for all 50 states, and the Polar Vortex brought snow to every state but Florida.  There have been nearly 5,000 record low temps across the US in January alone, and over 1,000 record snowfalls.  Pretty sure we can chalk up another after last night's 9 inch "thunder snow storm."  WHAT??  Didn't even know there was such a thing!

Now the Almanac on the other hand predicted “a winter storm will hit the Northeast around the time the Super Bowl is played at MetLife Stadium.  It also predicteda colder-than-normal winter for two-thirds of the country and heavy snowfall in the Midwest, Great Lakes, and New England.”  The Almanac makes its predictions based on planetary positions, sunspots, and lunar cycles—a prediction cycle that’s been the same since 1818, and it's said to be accurate about 80% of the time.

Looks like I have a book I'm going to have to purchase!  Start scheduling ALL my vacations around the storms.  Perhaps the next time they predict a winter like this, I'm retiring and moving to Mexico!!
