Rochester native Payton Curry hopes to open a Cannabis Cafe here in his hometown sometime in the near future. This wouldn't be the type of place that serves edible brownies to people looking for a buzz. His restaurant would be focused on providing relief.

The trained chef says he wants to utilize Cannabidiol or CBD which is an extract from the hemp plant that has no intoxicating properties in his dishes. Curry told KIMT News, "Utilizing the vegetable of cannabis instead of just using it to get stoned or get baked, we’ve been using it as a supplement for people to carry on a non-toxic form of pain relief."

According to Harvard Medicine, patients report many benefits from CBD like, "relieving insomnia, anxiety, and pain to treating potentially life-threatening conditions such as epilepsy.

Curry has met with city leaders to educate them on the process and is looking for a location.
