Chatfield, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Chatfield area man was arrested on a felony assault charge early Friday after Fillmore County deputies were called out to investigate reports of suspicious gunfire in a rural area.

Sheriff Tom Kaase says a 35 year old St. Charles man called 911 around 12:50 a.m. and told officials he heard gunshots in the vicinity of a home in Pilot Mound Township. While driving past the residence, the man heard more gunfire and spotted the suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Timothy Kesler, in a shooting stance and firing a gun towards him. He was not injured and his vehicle was not hit.

After deputies arrived at the scene, they took Kesler in the custody on a second degree assault charge.

A number of other adults and children were found in the house, and it was discovered that one of them was a 28-year-old Rochester man wanted on an outstanding warrant. Sheriff Kaase says Chad Loomis was also arrested and was turned over to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department.
