Minneapolis, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester woman has been sentenced to 5 years on probation in a child-abuse case.

27-year-old Andrea Meskill entered a guilty plea to a felony child endangerment charge in September as part of a plea agreement that led to the dismissal of a third-degree assault charge. She was accused of seriously injuring her infant daughter in August of last year.

The criminal complaint indicated x-rays showed the 24-day-old baby had several rib fractures, and a medical scan found a laceration on her liver. Court documents say Meskill admitted to investigators that she been rough with the infant and may have “squeezed her hard” after she tripped over her dog and became upset.

In addition to the time on probation, Meskill was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community work service.
