Were you craving a burrito today? Did you head to one of our Rochester-area Chipotle locations to indulge in one, only to discover they were closed? Well, you may be "entitled to compensation," so to speak.

Chipotle restaurants closed all of its 2,000+ locations during lunch today to hold a company-wide meeting to address food safety. But, according to this story on the Time Magazine website, in order to make up for being closed, the restaurant offered a free burrito to its customers.

Yep, that's right. According to the story, all you had to do to redeem this offer was text the word 'raincheck' to 888-222. Then, Chipotle would send you a coupon in the next few days for a free burrito.

This fact was confirmed by making a quick visit to the Chipotle website, as well! Unfortunately, according to their site, the offer ended at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, which was 5:00 p.m. Central Time.

The move was also intended to help build trust from customers who may have become concerned of shied away from Chipotle in light of several food-borne illnesses that have been linked to their chain of restaurants.

In any case, you can't beat free food! And it may be too late to cash in on the offer, but then again it might be worth sending them a message just in case! After all, for a few seconds of your time, you could find yourself getting a free Chipotle burrito...
