It's exciting news that the cast of Friends will be reuniting next month to salute James Burrows on directing his 1,000 television episode! But, The cast of Friends will be reuniting next month along with the cast of Cheers and a number of other television series Burrows has directed as part of a two-hour salute to the director.

Yes, it's exciting to see them together again twelve years after Friends ended, May 6th, 2004. But it's not exactly the reunion we all want to see.

So, what is the reunion we all want to see?

Here are my Top 6 Friends reunion scenarios. If I missed one, share that in the comments below. If I nailed it, let me know that, too.

The One Where There's Another Funeral

Remember The One Where Nana Dies Twice? Everybody is following the big game at the funeral, Ross falls into a hole, then gets wiped out on pain killers and Monica has A Talk with her Mom. It was funny and sentimental and serious all at the same time. Without being too morbid about death.

The one thing that would bring them all back together again would be either Jack or Judy Geller's funeral. Since the show was a lot about Ross and Monica, I'd vote for one of their parents to go. Or maybe Rachel's dad since he was in the hospital near the finale. But, after twelve years, he could have been gone for awhile.

The One Where There's An Opening

Joey was good for laughs as a struggling aspiring actor. I was surprised that when he was spun off onto his own series it was pretty much Friends 2.0. Maybe that's why it was cancelled after something like a season-and-a-half. It could have been better. It could have been Frasier.

Joey could have stumbled onto a hit series, hit movie franchise, reality series, game show, or daytime talk show. Matt LeBlanc has been playing himself on the hit series Episodes.

Maybe what brings them all back together is Joey reaches some milestone (like director Burrows), or wins an award.

    The One With A Graduation

Since Friends ended twelve years ago, from time to time we've all added up how old the kids on the show would be. The triplets that Phoebe carried and gave birth to for her brother Frank, Jr. might be close to a high school graduation. The odds are kinda slim on this one, but it might be enough to bring everybody back together again to catch up at a celebration.

The One With A Big Birthday

If we're talking about a Friends reunion, it's probably going to be for a milestone occasion. A funeral, maybe a divorce, an achievement. It could be a birthday for the twins. It could be their 10th birthday. But that would have been something like two years ago. Or, maybe it could be Erica's Sweet 16. Young Jack is jealous because a guy turning 16 isn't that big a deal; and, it's all complicated because she's thinking about eloping with a boyfriend...and other wackiness ensues.

    The One About Emma

Emma was born on the Eighth Season finale in 2002. She turned one in Season Nine. That would make her fourteen this year. A Freshman in high school. Wouldn't it be cool to see a whole Girl Meets World reunion to celebrate her first day of high school? Maybe introduce a shy goofy Jewish boy that would secretly have a crush on her? It could be Friends: The Next Generation. Okay, that sounds cheesy, but we're talking about them all getting back together again!

The One Where There's Something About Ben

If I had to pick, I would say either Jack Geller's funeral or something about Ben. Ben is turning 22 this year. We've missed most of what's been happening over the years - most importantly high school and college. If I were pitching a reunion, I would say, "Ben's wedding." The big question would be, would it be a "straight" wedding or would it be a "same-sex" wedding. The big deal would be how does he tell Ross or Carol, either way. It could be one of those instances where Ross is the last to know. Again.
