Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - Police in Mankato are investigating what appears to have been a deadly hit and run.

A statement from the Mankato Department of Public Safety says emergency crews responded a medical call around 1:30 a.m. and found an elderly man lying dead on a street. Investigators quickly determined the injuries that likely caused the 88-year-old man’s death were likely the result of being struck by a vehicle.

At this point, they do not have any information concerning the vehicle or the driver and are requesting the public’s help in the investigation.

The name of the victim is being withheld until his family is notified of the deadly incident.
