Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Roads were slick across parts of southeast Minnesota Tuesday morning due to overnight mist and light snow. The icy conditions apparently played a role in a fatal traffic wreck on I-35 in Steele County.

The State Patrol says a pickup truck lost control in the southbound lanes of the interstate and rolled around 5:30 a.m. near the town of Ellendale. The 61-year-old Elk River man driving the truck was killed. The freeway was icy at the time.

Meanwhile, a Rochester man who was hit by a car near the county fairgrounds Monday was listed in critical condition at St Mary’s at last check.

Police were told by witnesses that 45-year-old Jason Turrso was “behaving erratically and waving his arms” while walking down the middle of 16th Street SE during heavy traffic around 6:30 a.m. The driver of the car that struck him is a paramedic and immediately administered first aid.
