In 1984, the popular beverage was named the official state drink. Rep. Rick Krueger, sponsored the bill to declare milk as the state drink, to show support for Minnesota's dairy industry and as a way to promote the dairy products in the state.

Statesymbolsusa.org reports that Minnesota ranks sixth in the country in dairy production, cranking out a whopping 9.7 billion pounds of milk each year.

If milk is not your thing - have a beer.  Beer is not officially recognized by the State but we do produce a lot of it in Minnesota. The Brewers Association says there are 73 craft breweries in Minnesota, and they produce more than 528,000 barrels of beer each year. Minnesota beer production ranks 11th in the country.
