The term 'flashmob' was first used back in 2003. Wikipedia defines it as a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression.

The flashmob below was broadcast on Facebook live by Krishna Acharya from the Mayo Clinic. It features several couples slow-dancing to beautiful piano music.

Flashmobs have been catching Rochester residents off guard and, ultimately, entertaining them for several years now. One of my favorites was orchestrated by IBM at Thursdays on First a couple years ago. Click here to watch the video.
