Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  A young boy was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance Saturday morning after he was attacked by a neighbor’s dog.

Rochester police say the incident occurred in the 1600 block Wilshire Drive Northeast while the 4-year-old and his father were visiting the neighbor. A spokesman says a woman picked up the boy after he complained about the dog licking his face and the dog responded by clamping its’ jaw onto the child’s leg. It took several minutes to get the dog to release its jaw and the boy ended up with a serious wound on his leg.

The dog, which is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier, has been quarantined while the Rochester Animal Control unit investigates the incident.
