Double Homicide in Mason City
According to KIMT,
Around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to 1620 North Hampshire Ave. to investigate a report of a shooting. Cerro Gordo County deputies and the Mason City Fire Department also responded. They found Melinda Kavars and Caleb Christensen dead inside the home, according to a Police Department news release.
Police have already arrested a suspect. A 30-year-old man from Lake Mills, Peter Veal, was taken in to the Cerro Gordo County Jail after a short chase on foot. The charge is first-degree murder.
According to KIMT, Veal has a record.
