This unfortunately is not a hoax. The effects will take place on July 7th.

Right now there's a ton of confusion about what exactly is happening on July 7th and I don't know how to fully explain it.

I am by no means a tech-savvy person, as I usually learn these things from my wife or my friends that sell phones for a living because they know the ins-and-outs of the industry, so I'm just as turned-around as you probably are about all this.

Basically, Facebook will now be requiring you to download their "Moments" App. The app allows you to upload photos and albums to share among friends without having to post them on the social media site.

How exactly do they plan on making you get the app? By threatening to delete your pictures that are not uploaded on to the new app.  Actually, they're not threatening; they're promising.

You might be thinking to yourself, "Well, I don't have an album that says 'synced photos.' So what do I need to do to save my photos?  And what about all the photos I have on Facebook now?"

From what I understand from the article (Disclaimer: That's still debatable) it's ONLY if you have your photos automatically backing up from your cell phone to Facebook.

It's NOT the ones you specifically uploaded to your timeline to share. To make sure: Go to your settings and see if the synced photos setting is checked. If it's not, then you're not syncing. If you don't have the synced folder in Facebook, then you are not auto-syncing and therefore have nothing to worry about.
