Undated (Minnesota News Network)  –  If you're planning the see the fall colors this weekend, the northern third of Minnesota is the best place to be.

The Minnesota DNR says the far northwest near Grand Forks has the best color, along with a stretch between Bemidji and Duluth. In those spots, the bright orange, yellow, and red leaves are at 75-100 percent of their peaks.

Much of the southern quarter of Minnesota is at 0-10 percent.

The DNR's website offers a map of how the colors are progressing.

The National Weather Service predicts a great weekend for an early-fall drive, with clear skies through tomorrow. Partly cloudy skies are forecast at least through Tuesday.
