Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol responded Thursday afternoon to a fatal traffic crash east of Rochester.

The deadly broadside collision was reported shortly after 3 PM at the intersection of Highway 42 and Olmsted County Road 9.  A preliminary report from the State Patrol says a 31-year-old Kellogg man was killed when his SUV collided with a dump truck that was southbound on Highway 42. His name has not been released. The Decorah, Iowa man driving the truck was not hurt.

The intersection has seen increased traffic as a result of the detour that was put in place because of the roundabout project at the junction of Highway 42 and Highway 14 at Eyota.

Last Wednesday, a 30-year-old Twin Cities man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash at the same intersection.
