Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a fatal crash Thursday evening at a rural intersection several miles northwest of Faribault.

Officials say a 60-year-old Faribault man was fatally injured when his car collided with a semi-truck at the junction of Highways 99 and 21. The crash that claimed the life of Randy Hansen was reported shortly after 5:30 p.m. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

A State Trooper was transported to a hospital after he was injured in a hit and run crash Thursday afternoon.

The State Patrol says 37-year-old Trooper Matthew Hitchen of Thief River Falls was driving his State Patrol cruiser along a rural road in Polk County when he collided with a pickup around 12:45pm. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch, but the driver of the pickup managed to drive away before emergency responders arrived at the scene.

Officials say the other driver was later located and is expected to face charges. The trooper was brought to a hospital in Fosston and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
