Fire Destroys Machine Shed on Olmsted County Farm

An Olmsted County farmer lost a large machine shed to a fire early this morning.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says Steven Vermilya was awakened by his barking dog around 3 a.m., looked out a window and saw the 60 by 80 building engulfed in flames.

Besides the building, Vermilya also lost a truck and some machinery.  The preliminary loss has been put at $260,000.

 The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The farm is located south of Dover in the 17000 block of County Road 29.
