Fire destroys rural Olmsted County garage, vehicles

A fire that broke out early this morning at a residence in rural western Olmsted County wiped out a detached garage and some vehicles

- including a collector’s car.  The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says a 911 call was received around 12:15 from the James and Ruth Vandal residence located in the 8700 block of County Road 25, which is just west of Salem Corners and south of Byron.  There were three vehicles in the garage and one parked nearby.  They were wiped out, as was the garage.  The fire also caused damage to the house.  One of the cars destroyed by the fire was a 1972 restored classic El Camino.  No word yet on the cause of the fire.
