Their school was just the sight of one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history, but now hockey players from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida are on their way here to Minnesota.

It's because just 11 days after that horrible tragedy unfolded at their school down in Florida, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Hockey Team just won a Florida state title-- and, they're moving onto the national competition, which will be held right here in Minnesota.

According to this CBS Sports.com story, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Hockey Team won the Lightning High School Hockey League Tier 1 state title over the weekend. That win then qualified the team for the national high school championship tournament, which for their division, will be held in our neck of the woods-- in Plymouth, and will be hosted by Wayzata Youth Hockey.

How cool is that? Not that a state title in hockey can ever erase the horror the school and community just went through, but, still, it's a great story, isn't it? The story noted that even though the team was excited about their win, the tragedy they endured is never far from their minds.

"Members of the team dyed their hair yellow to honor Joaquin Oliver, a friend of the team who was killed in the shooting," the story said.

The team is set to be here in Minnesota March 22nd through the 26th.
