Rochester, MN  (KROC-AM News) - A breach of contract lawsuit has been filed in Olmsted County Court by a man who claims he was operating as a local police informant when his identity was revealed.

The lawsuit was filed last week by Richard Dalton and lists Olmsted County and the city of Rochester as defendants.

The lawsuit says he became a confidential informant in 2009 and was promised that his identity would be kept  “ totally secret. “

Dalton claims an unidentified officer disclosed his identity later that same year to  “a person involved in criminal activity. “  Dalton says as a result, he has received “ numerous death threats and has gone into hiding when not incarcerated.”

He also says he has been unable to “ secure gainful employment. “

The suit seeks at least $50,000 in damages.  No court dates have been scheduled yet.
