Former Rochester Man Convicted of Winona Rape
A former Rochester man has been convicted of raping a woman in Winona last year.
29 year old Ramone Newell was classified a Level 3 sex offender when he moved to Winona following his release from prison in March last year. He was accused of breaking into the victim's home a month later and sexually assaulting her at knifepoint.
Newell's criminal history includes a series of "window peeping" offenses in Rochester in 2005 and 2006.
He was given a 22 month prison sentence in one of those cases.
