Kendra Lindon, a bus driver from Calgary, Canada was getting ready to pick up some junior high students last month, but considering it was -35 degrees that morning, she couldn't get her bus to start.  So instead of letting these kids get frostbite, or worse, even freeze to death, she picked them up in her SUV.

The bus company thanked her for improvising by FIRING HER, because of their zero-tolerance policy that students can't be transported in anything other than a school bus.  Since there weren't enough seat belts, two of the boys had to ride without them.

In my opinion, this is why so many "zero-tolerance" policies are completely stupid.  It leaves no room for the "what-ifs" of life.  Had the bus driver been taking them somewhere inappropriate or ended up in an accident, the punishment may have fit the "crime."  But punishing someone for ultimately protecting these kids makes me sick.
