A new study from Microsoft shows that people have an attention span of only 8 seconds. Are you still there?

A goldfish is believed to have a nine-second attention span.

The study which was conducted in Canada but most likely holds true for Americans too says that mobile devices are to blame. People want to scroll through their real life like they do on their Facebook news-feed.  Twitter has changed the way we want information and conversations too - they're best received when they are 140 characters or less.

National Post ran this article citing these stats from the research.

• 77% of respondents between the ages of 18 and 24 reported they reach for their phone or mobile device when they feel bored;

• 52% check their phone every 30 minutes or less; and

• 79%  reported using their portable devices while watching TV.
