Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Rochester’s Mayo High School will be blowing out 50 candles this weekend.  

The city’s second oldest public high school is celebrating its 50th year of operations this year and has scheduled several events during this weekend’s homecoming activities.

The homecoming parade will be held Friday. It is scheduled to leave the fairgrounds at 4 p.m. and make its way east on 16th Street to the school. A social will be held at the school from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Friday for current and past staff and their significant others. Mayo hosts Mankato West in its homecoming game, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

A mixer will be held at the Eagles Club from 8:00 - 11:30 p.m. Friday for current and past staff and alumni.

The public is invited to attend an open house at the school Saturday from noon - 4:00 p.m. It will include a special program in the gymnasium at 1:00 p.m.  

There will also be a showing of the movie “From The Earth to the Universe” in the school planetarium (showtimes - 12:15, 2:15, 3:15 p.m.).  

The school will hold its homecoming dance Saturday evening from 8:00- 11:30.
