St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Overall flu activity in Minnesota is still rated as widespread, but there are signs that it may have peaked during the past week.

The latest update on influenza activity by the Minnesota Department of Health shows there were drops in every indicator tracked by the state for the weekly report. The number of flu-related hospitalizations and the number of schools reporting probable outbreaks fell about 60-percent. There were 17 school outbreaks since the last report, which listed 43 outbreaks in Minnesota schools.

The number of confirmed outbreaks in long-term care facilities slid from 7 to 5, while there were dramatic declines in the percentage of people seeking medical care who presented with flu-like symptoms and the percentage of positive results on specimens submitted for testing.
