The large downtown Rochester project being proposed by the Chafoulias family is scheduled for a public hearing this week.  The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hold a hearing on the project Wednesday evening (  6:00 p.m. in the Council/Board Chambers of the Government Center ).

The revised plan submitted to the city shows the project - known as Broadway at Center - calls for a 23 story building consisting of 384,000 square feet.  That’s one floor shorter and 27,000 less square feet than the initial design.  The new plan calls for 211 hotel rooms on the 6th - 17th floors.  It calls for 68 apartments on floors 18 - 22.  Meeting rooms, retail, restaurant and office space would be included in the first 5 floors.

The project would be connected to the skyway system and there would be underground parking.  A new city-owned parking ramp is also planned to the east of the project, which will be constructed along North Broadway across from Michael’s Restaurant.

The project concept was released to the public for the first time in May last year.
