La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News) - The National Weather Service says an inch or so of snow is possible in the Rochester area Friday night, but much higher amounts are predicted in northern Iowa.

A large area of northern Iowa and southern Wisconsin is under a winter storm watch because a developing storm system has the potential of dropping over a half a foot of snow those regions. The latest forecasting models put the heaviest snow band in an area running from Waterloo to Dubuque, where the accumulations could be as high as 9 inches.

Forecasters are indicating that areas along the Minnesota-Iowa border could end up with 3 to 4 inches of snow.
