Well ready or not it's official: ABC confirmed that they're bringing "American Idol" back to life next season (after only a year off the air by the way!) but there's no word on who the judges are or who the host will be...

According to TMZ Kelly Clarkson was ABC's "first choice" to be a judge on "American Idol".  But in a new twist first reported last night, she's now joining "The Voice" instead!

This would have made total sense since Kelly was the show's first winner, plus she's arguably the biggest star next to Carrie Underwood to come out of "Idol". But now with this stunning announcement, the producers will no doubt have to re-huddle.

Now, if it were up to me I wouldn't have brought the show back at all. But since that's not an option anymore, here are the three people I could at least stand being judges on the show.

    Bruno Mars

I realize he's on tour right now, but think about it: Is there any bigger name out there right now that could draw major ratings to a show that many people would prefer to stay dead?

He could breathe some serious life back into it and give a unique perspective on how the music business works these days. Plus he just seems like a fun and cool guy who could fill in the role of "Randy Jackson".

    John Mayer

Another artist who's currently on tour, but at least his would wrap up just in time to record the auditions this fall? It's still too early for when those would start happening but you can't deny Mayer wouldn't be a polarizing character to throw on the show. While it's been written many times how he usually acts like he's the smartest guy in the room, he's also been around the block a few times and dated some of the biggest celebrities in the biz.

I could easily see him as the new "Simon" on the show!

    Sheryl Crow

Hear me out! Much like Paula Abdul was in the 80's, Sheryl Crow was just as big in the 90's in terms of musical success and recognition. Plus I think she could bring order to judges table between the two boys whenever they can't agree.

Also fun fact: I've had a crush on her since I was in high school, so it would just give me another reason to tune in week after week :)
