Nelly is in a bit of trouble but, fortunately for him, he has amazing fans that are trying to help him out. It seems Nelly owes the IRS a little money. Okay, more than a little. He owes them $2.5 million.

Spin Magazine came up with a brilliant way to bail the pop-star out. They encouraged their readers to stream his stuff on Spotify and to get #SaveNelly trending on social media to draw attention to the cause.

It's working because #SaveNelly is, indeed, trending.

Unfortunately, he's going to need a ton of you to stream his music. Time Magazine says the payout for artists “per stream” only averages between $0.006 and $0.0084, which means that if Nelly lands on the minimum end of the scale, he would need 402,880,500 streams to earn enough to significantly decrease the alleged debt.

Nelly is performing at the Vedder Stone Amphitheater in Mankato on Oct. 7th, and we've got free tickets for you!  Listen to Scotty Matthews weeknights at 5:00 p.m. for your chance to win!
