If you like doughnuts/donuts (which is everybody, I’m assuming), then I have some good news for you! Friday, June 1st  is National Donut Day, which is easily one of the best National _____ Days. Because donuts. And in honor of the occasion, the Rochester Salvation Army is celebrating the 80th annual event by offering FREE coffee and donuts and the new VFW Post 1215 from 7AM to 11AM. The new VFW Post 1215 is located at 2775 43rd Street Northwest in Rochester.

National Donut Day was actually started by the Salvation Army in 1938 to raise money during the Great Depression. And the cool thing is that the VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be making the original donut recipe that the Salvation Army Donut Girls gave to soldiers on the front lines all the way back in 1917. Nice!

So feel free to head to the VFW this Friday morning to nab a free donut – and thank a vet while you’re at it.
